Section Properties and Calculation Methods
Generate numerous section properties, including geometric, polar, plastic, principal, shear, torsion and warping properties. Geometric properties can be calculated about the centroid or any reference axis.
Control calculation method with options to use database values, closed-form solutions, proprietary polygon algorithms or Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Easily compare the results from the various methods in spreadsheet form to make engineering judgments.
FEA calculations support two methods; one appropriate for thin wall sections (which uses shell finite elements) and the other for general sections (which uses solid finite elements) for accurate calculation of shear center, shear area, torsional constant and warping constant.
